Mexicano type of Padel tournament is a great way to organize a tournament for players at different skill levels. Matchups are based on current points rankings, ensuring that everyone competes at their level, making matches more exciting and evenly matched.

Rules of Padel Mexicano

In Mexicano tournament, the order of who you play against is not predetermined but is created depending on the results of the other matches.

• The game starts with a randomly ordered first round. The purpose of the first round is to get a starting point for the following rounds.
• From round two, matchups are based on current scores. The better you play, the more difficult the opposition and vice versa.
• Teams pairing follows a specific pattern: 1st & 3rd vs 2nd & 4th, 5th & 7th vs 6th & 8th, and so on.
• After a few rounds, matches become more balanced as players settle into their skill levels.
• This system means you might play with or against the same people multiple times.

Team Mexicano

You can also play Mexicano in teams. It follows the same rules as individual Mexicano, but instead of playing solo, you compete in pre-arranged teams.

Calculating the Score

Score calculation in Mexicano is simple and fair. Here’s how it works:

• Each match is played up to a specific number of points. This can be 12, 24, 32 or any other number you choose. You can also play time-based matches.
• Each point won give 1 point to both players in the winning team. Once the match is finished, scores are entered into PadelMix app. For instance, If a match finishes 12-24, both players from the first team get 12 points and both players from the second team get 24 points.
• After all the rounds are played and the scores are entered, the player with the highest score wins the tournament.

Additional Notes

Mexicano tournament needs at least 8 players or teams to get started. While there’s no maximum limit on participants, it works best when the total number can be divided evenly by four.

• The number of courts needed depend on the number of players: ideally you’d want to have one court per four players.
• It’s fine to have players with different skill levels, as the Mexicano format will balance the matchups.
• Typical Americano lasts about 2 hours, with each 24-point match taking roughly 10 minutes.
